My Sleeping Beauty

We have got some crazy sleeping arrangements at our house!  Of course it's mostly my fault!  I have slept with my precious sleeping beauty Bryn since the day she was born. I know I know, "they" say you're not supposed to do that. But who on the hell are "they" anyway?!  It's my baby, my rules!

With Hayden I tried and tried to do everything by what "they" say to do. We had way too many long trying nights of no sleep just to make sure Hayden slept in his own bed. What a joke!  All those nights of crying and screaming and not being able to comfort my baby was so not worth it.

We did this nonsense until Santa brought Hayden a big boy bed just before his third birthday. With the transition, we thought to keep him in his bed we would lay down with him until he fell asleep. Well, I gave that duty to Nate!  Nate, for some strange reason, would end up falling asleep with Hayden and staying there all night. In a twin bed! Talk about squishy!

Now we have two habits to break!  Hayden and his Dad!  Not so easy!  Because now, I'm pregnant with Brynlee and Nate no longer wants to sleep in our bed with a snoring beached whale!

After Brynlee is here, We think that since Nate is working and has to get up that maybe he should still just sleep with Hayden so he doesn't get woke up when I got up with Bryn. And that is how are craziness started!

Being a new Mommy I was very sleep deprived to say the least and some how Bryn got used to sleeping in my arms. Don't ask me how that happened! So...it's now Bryn and Mommy in Mom and Dads bed and Daddy and Hayden in Hayden's twin bed!  Nuts!

So here we are, Bryn is now 5 and Hayden is 9.  Things have changed a bit but we've added more to the sleeping arrangement problem. Nate now works rotating shifts at work. Two weeks day shift and two weeks afternoons.  We have such different schedules!  It's a nightmare!  Poor Nate never gets sleep!  Good sleep!  I feel bad for him. I don't know how he functions sometimes.

Now, so everyone gets to get some sleep around our house, I sleep with Bryn sometimes in her full size bed or in our bed. Hayden sleeps on his own in his room and as for Nate, he sleeps in whatever bed is empty when he gets home!

People say we are crazy and/or weird but who are they to judge?!  Besides, how could you resist snuggling this Princess!

Date Night with Mom!

What to do on a Friday night when Dads at work?!  Go get ice cream, our favorite summer treat!  On our little ice cream date I learned something about each of the kids!

Bryn holds her pencil just like me!  It's an odd way to write, so people have told me over the years. Funny she would pick that up from me!

And Hayden announced to me that he has chest hair at the young age of 9!  I'm not seeing anything but Hayden swears he has some!

Our Paradise

Nate and I celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary a little early this year and went to the Riviera Maya Mexico!  It was absolutely amazing to say the least!  It had been 7 years since Nate and I had gone on vacation which was the cruise we went on in 2005 with 30 of our closest family and friends.  We didn't know how it was going to be with just Nate and I going this time alone but it turned out that it was just perfect!  In fact, we can't wait to book our next stay with the Secrets Resorts!  It was pure Paradise!! We did alot of nothing!  Nothing but laying in the sun and pool/ocean!  It was just what we both needed!  While there, we got a massage on the beach.  It was Nate's very first massage ever and he loved it!

Happy Anniversary Babe!  I Love You!

Our Paradise!  We can't wait to go back!!

This place was simply AMAZING!

This was the amazing view from our balcony!

Nate just had to try a Cuban cigar while there!  This is a funny pic!

We loved swinging at the beach bar!  So relaxing!

What to do?

I have been thinking I would like to put Bryn in a beauty pageant and I recently found one that sounds to be perfect. It's called Beehive Beauties. It's an all natural pageant so no make up and a bunch of other craziness. As I keep pondering and reading their website I can't but to have second thoughts. For one, you are given a theme to follow and for this certain pageant the two themes are beach wear (no bikinis) and formal wear and u feel as though I just don't have it in me right now to be taking that on by that meaning trying to find the perfect outfits and accessories. I drive myself and my Mom crazy when it comes to things like this. It's a major ordeal to even have pictures done with the kids. I want everything to be perfect and it puts far too much stress and anxiety on me. Why I do that to myself, I have no idea?!

Besides all of my craziness, the biggest draw back to these beauty pageants is what if we don't win. Right now Bryn is not going to understand but it still breaks my heart for her or any girl to think they are not pretty enough and that they are being judged on their looks. From what I have read about this certain pageant, all the girls are Beehive Beauty winners and I believe get some sort of tiara or something like that but I still can't get over it. "Sorry honey but you aren't cute enough.". I can't even imagine trying to explain this to your little girl.

So, now that I have pondered on it for weeks, talked about it with everyone I know, and now blogged about it, I have decided against it. It doesn't really matter what anyone thinks about how cute or not cute my little girl is because to us she is perfect! The most beautiful little girl I know! Don't you agree?!

I am so far behind on blogging. I'm behind like half of Bryn's life. Ok not that much but it seems as though. Our life has been non stop for months now. It's a bittersweet kind of thing. We love everything that's been going on like baseball, birthday parties, weddings, camping, oh and working full time and chasing around two monsters!

Once life slows for a minute we are actually lost on what to do. It's almost like we forget how to just relax.

I need a reminder to slow down and enjoy the simple things. And this is just the reminder I need and love! Nothing better than watching and hearing my little miracles play and laugh and in Brynlee's case, scream!

We are very fortunate and I am so thankful for our little family who are all healthy and happy! Couldn't ask for anything more!

We Love Disneyland!

We had our first family vacation ever and we went to the happiest place on earth, Disneyland! We have been so excited for this trip! From Hayden and Brynlee's first time flying to the first time meeting Mickey and Minnie! What made it even more exciting is that we were able to go with my Mom and Dad and Brother and Sister Law. Shaun has never flown before or been to the beach. So this was a real treat to be able to share this experience with him. We also had our friends be able to join us, Nikki and Jeremiah. She had never flown or been to the beach either. So exciting!!

We all had an amazing trip. Weather was perfect, churros were yummy, and we walked and walked until we couldn't walk any more! Sounds like the perfect trip to me!!

....And We're off! First time ever as a family on an airplane! The kids did great and had fun!

I thought I would share our most favorite part of Disneyland.

Mommy's favorite most memorable part of the entire trip were two things-

Hayden got picked to participate in Jedi Training and he got to battle with Darth Vader. It was only Hayden and I that decided to go and watch Jedi training. Not sure what everyone else went to do. Nate was on the sidelines with Brynlee and the camera. We had no idea he was gonna be picked but he did and he was not one but shy to go right up there. I think I was more excited than he was. The excitement I felt for him thinking about how he must have been feeling was truly the best feeling ever! I had this huge giddy grin on my face the entire time!!

My other favorite part was seeing how excited Brynlee got when we rode It's a Small World! Her eyes lit up and she was so happy! The singing and dancing dolls were her favorite! She danced and pointed the entire ride. Priceless!!

Daddy's favorite part of our vacation was seeing Brynlee so happy watching the dolls dancing and singing in It's a Small World and riding on Grizzly River Run in California Adventure with Hayden. Hayden wasn't too sure about going on the ride and was pretty scared until we came to the bottom of the big hill. He was smiling ear to ear and wanted to go again. I loved seeing my monsters so happy!!

Hayden's favorite- Star Tours and Jedi Training! Of Course! He is obsessed with Star Wars! When I asked him what his favorite part of our vacation was he also said shopping in the Star Wars store and buying toys. I do have to say it was fun! We went on this vacation with no limits on the spending so whatever Hayden wanted Hayden bought. Strangely enough, he didn't spend all that much. I think the Star Wars store was so big it was over whelming to him. He would have spent hours in there if I would have let him.

Brynlee's favorite was It's a Small World and Mickey's Soundsational Parade. It was so amazing to watch Brynlee as her eyes lit up as she was watching the people and characters come down main street dancing and singing!

Our first time on "It's a Small World"

Looking in awe at the bright lights and and dancing charcters as they go down Disney Main Street.

Hayden and Brynlee most likely won't remember our first family vacation to Disneyland but I know Mommy and Daddy will cherish the memories forever.

Sleeping Beauty Bryn! Had to take naps on the go! We weren't gonna miss a thing!

A lot of Toon Town Fun!

Summer Camping Fun!

We spent a lot of the summer camping this year. Who wouldn't when you have one of these things?

This is the newest edition to the Peterson Family! A 2011 Cyclone Toy Hauler. It's our home away from home. I hate to say it but this thing is nicer than our real home! We have enjoyed camping in it this season and are sad that it is over now until next year. I guess it doesn't have to be though. Just because snow is just around the corner doesn't mean we can't go camping! Our first trip out was memorial weekend and guess what....it snowed!! It was a little crazy with all the wet and mud and here we are in this brand new home on wheels. A little nerve racking for me but I had to keep reminding myself that this is why we bought it, to camp!! With my husband that means rain or shine...... or snow! After all this is what we enjoy doing and think it's great that we have decided to raise our family doing what we love. Here are a some pics of our 2011 camping season which we spent mostly at Strawberry Reservoir and out in the desert in Vernon.
