2012 Year in Review

I feel so terrible that an entire year has came and went and I have not done one single post for 2012. I have this blog as a journal/scrap book type thing for Hayden and Brynlee. So with that said, I am going to post a little look inside our fast paced busy 2012. And..... I am going to try my hardest to be better in 2013 at keeping this current.

To start 2012 quick review here are some pics of bike riding in January.  We didn't get much snow last winter so the kids were able to ride their bikes!  Bubba got a Green Machine from Grandma and Grandpa for Christmas so it was nice that he was able to ride it and not have to wait until Spring.

St. Patrick's Day

This year for St Patty's Day we decided that just in case we get a visit from a sneaky little Leprechaun like the years past then we better try and catch him this time!  Hayden was real creative in making a few different Leprechaun traps.  The first one was a green blanket that he had draped over our coach and railing and held up with one of his swords.  But as you can see the little Leprechaun made it through it and even left a few pieces of green candy right by the trap.

Next we decided to set up another trap using a laundry basket help up with another sword.  Hayden was hoping he would trip the trap and he would have himself a little Leprechaun pet when he woke up.  But as you can see those sneaky little guys never set it off and even left gold coins inside the trap.

One of the Leprechauns even left green foot prints on our counter top and left even more gold coins.

My little Lucky Lady ready for St. Patty's Day!

Easter

This year for Easter we decided to stay home instead of the usual camping. I can't remember why but it might have been because Bryn's birthday was around the same time.  None the less the Bunny still found us here at home.

Here's what the Bunny brought us! A new purse with bracelets and chap stick for Bryn and Stars Wars Legos, flip flops, and "Hop" the movie for Hayden.

Little Lou Lou!

Grandma and Grandpa gave Hayden a PoGo stick!  He isn't quite big enough to do it himself yet.  He just doesn't weigh enough to bounce!  In time!!

HaPpY BiRtHdAy BrYnLeE!!

Brynlee turns the BIG "2" !!  Since we had just recently went to Disneyland, Bryn was all about Minnie Mouse so that's what we kind of birthday party she had.  We had her party at a friend's club house at her apartment complex.  There was plenty of room and there was a movie theater where we watched Minnie's Bir14thday Surprise!  We had a yummy lunch with PB&J Minnie sandwiches, chips, and strawberries (Bryn's favorite)!  I think everyone had a great time as we celebrated our little princess's special day!

Few things about Brynlee at the sweet age of 2

Her favorite color is pink.
She loves Rupenzel (the movie Tangled).
Bryn is the best shopper ever!  She loves shopping with her Mommy and Grandma!
LOVES camping!  She loves going in the truck with the trailer behind us!  She gets so excited!
Eats lots of noodles but has tried more new things!  Liking sausage a lot and other meats.
Her best friend is her Mommy!  Well, that is if I have anything to say about it!  I'm her favorite!  LOL

Timpanogas Cave

We were in need of a Dimick/Peterson family adventure so we headed for a hike!  Boy oh boy was it an adventure!  Between Jenna literally going to kill over being out of breath and Brynlee thinking she is a big girl to walk on her own on the trail, I thought I was gonna have a melt down!  We made it though with only a few minor bumps along the way!  The weather was perfect and once it was all over I have to admit, we all had a great time!  I'm not sure we will be returning anytime soon but we definately made some memories and that was my goal!

Let's Play Ball!

Hayden was on the Rookie Dodgers team this year with Hunter/Cyprus Babe Ruth Baseball.  This was a special year because Nate was able to be the coach of Hayden's team which means I was the lucky team Mom!   It was quite the experience but a good oneJust a little rambunctious with 14 little ones from the ages of 3 1/2 to 6.  Must have Patience! But I think everyone enjoyed it and had lots of fun!  Bryn loves to go to the park to watch her Bubba play ball!  She always thinks she gets to play too!  She loves to bat but it's hard when your so little that you can barely lift a bat up!

Bubba's baseball plaque at end of season

I think this little girl will be first in line to sign up for T-Ball as soon as she is old enough!

Hayden with his Buddy Kaymen from his first year of Rookies. They weren't on the same team this year but they are still buds!

 First Cavity
Hayden had his first cavity this year. Sad!  He was a toughy though and did a great job while the dentist fixed it all up but that aftermath was not so good!

By the time we got home this little guy had chewed up his lip!  Of course he couldnt feel it because he it was numb and this was the result.  I had never seen a lip so huge!  It was unreal!  I felt so bad for him.  He even had to stay home from school for a few days because I didnt want the kids to make fun of him.  It was HUGE!!  Hopefully, that won;t happen again!  Those dang bugs that get in your teeth and nake houses, they better stay away from our Bubba's mouth!  (That's my explanation to the kids so that they will brush their teeth!)

Emergency Room Visit

We had two trips to Primary Chidrens Emergency Room with Brynlee.  It was probbaly the most scariest thing I have had to do.  For some strange reason Bryn would throw up at night.  Only at night and was fine in the day.  This went on for 5 days I think and so then I decided to take her to the hospital because it seemed just not right.  The doctors and nurses checked her out and of course found nothing wrong.  She seemed completely fine.  I just couldnt understand why the throwing up in the middle of the night.  Well, the conclusion was that maybe it was acid reflux or worse case a brain tumor.  That's all I heard.  I was litterally sick thinking about that but she had no signs that it would be that but it could still be the case.  We went home and decided to try the reflux medication for a few weeks to see if that would help.  As time went  on she was fine and then it started again.  Back to the ER we went and this time for some testing because I couldn't take the worry anymore. They decided to do an xray on her stomache to make sure everything was ok there and a urine test to make sure there was not an infection.  That was a nightmare.  She hated being strapped down for the belly xrays but it had to be done.  Long story short, everything was fine.  We opted to not do a CT scan of her brain because she really wasnt showing any of the signs and we didn't want to expose her to all that radiation if it was not necassary.   So we left on the note that we still keep up the reflux medication and made an appointment with our Pediatrician, DR Kelly.

Over the next few weeks there was no more throwing up and I couldn't have been more relieved.  Dr Kelly said that some toddlers can have the reflux come back a second time once they have had as an infant.  Well I guess that Brynn fits in that "some toddlers" category.  I am so thankful that's all it was.  My mind wonders like crazy because of all the terrible things that I read and the kids that I know that are so sick.  it just breaks my heart.  All I can do is pray and be thankful that for the most part we have a healthy little family.

So sad seeing your baby like this but so thankful that everything is OK!

Summer Time Fun!

We had a lot of fun this summer!  We went to Lagoon, boating several times and swimming at Grandma and Grandpa's!

All tuckered out from our day at Lagoon!

Favorite Ride, the bumper cars.

Brynlee and cousin Katelee (part of our amazing Mesquite family!)

Kindergarten Graduation!

Hayden completed Kindergarten in June!   He had a great year and loved his teacher Mrs. Dunbar.  It's a bitter sweet moment! The boys have been together for the 1st 3 years of their schooling, who knows what next year will bring!  I felt lucky because I was able to volunteer to help in class twice a month plus attend all of the class holiday parties!  Mrs Dunbar sure knew how to have fun!  Now, it's time to look forward to all day 1st grade!  Yay for Hayden but boo for Mommy!

The Kindergarten ended the year with a cute program and this pic shows just how much fun the kids
were having!

4TH of July!

Another great year spending the 4th Magna style!  Watcing the parade and BBQ at Grandpa Rocks and just being with family and friends!  When the holiday falls on a day during the week, we have a hard tinme staying up late to watch fireworks sooooo a week or so before we head to Taylorsville Dayz and watch the fireworks there.  The kids seem to love it and to me it doesnt feel like summer unless you see fireworks!

I'm a Big Girl Now!

By July Bryn was all potty trained.  It was so crazy how one day she was just ready!  She was done wearing pull ups and that was it!  No accidents day or night!  Just like that!  She is such a bright sassy girl!

 Camping Fun!

We spent some time this year doing what we love, camping!  If you ask Nate, we didn't go near enough and I agree but my heavens I don't know where the time goes anymore!  Here are some pics of our time we spent at Gilbert Meadows with Great Grandpa Gary.

Lexi Lou Turns 1!

Lexi had her 1st birthday August 4th.  She is getting so dang big!  Her party was done in Elmo because he is her favorite!  She loves Elmo just like her big brother did!

Cutest gift ever from her favorite Aunt Rhonda!

 First Day of 1st Grade.....

Hayden started first grade in the fall!  His very first year of going to school without Landen.  They were given different teachers this year.  I was kind of nervous for them both but apparently they don't need each other like I think they do.  They did just fine!

Sister can't wait to go to school like her Bubba!  She had to get her back pack all ready just like Bubba!

 Shake Ya Booty!!

Bryn and I started a Mommy and Me Dance class at Just Dance.  This is a tap and ballet class.  Bryn loves to dance so I thought it would be perfect to get her started dancing early.

Miss Sass a Frass!  Ready for her first day of Dance Class!

Bring on Fall Time

We always get excited for Fall!  The cool down in  weather and for Hayden, Halloween!!

Ready to head down to the pumpkin patch in the field right behind our house!

Bubba brought his own little pocket knife to cut his own pumpkin off the vine.

Ready to hit the road!

Don't you just love Nate's shirt!  It's a work shirt from Sun Litho.  It so happened he wore it the day we went to the pumpkin patch so his job that he "loves" looks to be hauling pumpkins and Bryn!

   Halloween, BOO!

One of Hayden's favorite Holidays, Halloween!  This was Hayden;s first year to actually pick what he wanted to be for Halloween with out any Mommy persuasion!  He chose to be a Clone Trooper from Star Wars and Bryn was a sassy kitty cat!

Disney On Ice

In November we took the kids to Disney on ice for the first time!  Figured since we couldn't make it to Disneyland this year we could at least go to Disney on Ice!

 Thankful!

We had a great Thanksgiving day this year!  It was our year to have Great Granny with us!  Grandma Wendy had a few projects to make before our dinner and they made their own placement and wrote what they were thankful for on them.

 Special Delivery....

Santa made a special delivery to our house right after Thanksgiving!  Well, it wasn't Santa who made the delivery, the Post Man did but it was straight from the North Pole!
Santa thought we would give one of his Misfit Toys a good home so he sent us Spots!  Spots is special because he only has spots on half of his body.  And Santa was right!  Hayden took very good care of SpotsSanta even sent a book along with Spots so we knew the story about all the sad misfit toys at the North Pole.  Hayden loved it and Spots but Bryn I guess didn't quite understand so she wasn't very nice to Spots from time to time!  Little Stinker!

Grandma reading Spots story

 Bryn's first Dance Recital

Bryn's first dance recital was for Christmas.  We had Grandma and Grandpa, Uncle Shaun, Aunt Jenna, Landen, Lexi, and the Johnson's join us to watch Bryn shake her booty!  Well, it didn't exactly turn out that way!  She had to be taken out ont he stage with friends and once she was out there she just stood there.  In fact, the majority of the girls just stood there!  All Bryn did was the very end move which was waving to the audience.  So hilarious but I guess she at least went on the stage.  That's all I could hope for at the age of 2! I did try and bribe her and told her we would go out for ice cream after which she was all excited about but she clearly didn't care much about that because I am sure she knew I would take her anyway!  Little Sass a Frass!

Christmas Cheer!

We had a great holiday season!  It didn't seem as busy as years passed which was really nice!  We took a year off from making candy trainsThe kids were sad but instead we decorated Ginger Bread men but it just wasn't as much fun as train makin'.  So next year we will be back to trains for sure!

We had our favorite elf Toebell come back to visit us this year!  Bryn still thinks Toebell is nothing special but Hayden is more into him this year than ever before!  He has watched Elf on the Shelf several times and knows we aren't supposed to touch or he looses his magic.

We also had a fun Christmas party with My Mom's side of the family.  We are out growing our houses so we decided to have it at the old Senior Center in Magna.  It turned out great!  Granny even invited Santa to come and visit us!

We had Christmas photos taken at Foto Fly Santa and the experience was pretty amazing!  Nate got to dress up as Santa!  So in the pics you can't see Santa's face to tell that it is Santa.  It sure makes for some good photos!  Not the scared to death look on their faces when sitting next to a stranger!  They turned out super cute!

Santa brought all the kids reindeer ears and we all sang Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer song together!  The kids loved it!

Bryn was no way sitting on Santa's lap!  She would only get close enough for him to hand her her treat from him!

Granny & Santa

Christmas Eve in their Mickey and Minnie Christmas Jammies from Grandma and Grandpa

We forgot to leave cookies out for Santa and when we woke up Santa had left us a note!

Brun got her PINK DS from Santa.  What she told everyone she wanted!

Bubba got a BIG set of Stgar Wars Lego's!  He was in heaven and had it put together that day!

YAY!  Santa also brought new bikes!!

     Happy 7th Birthday Bubba!

Goodness sakes, my miracle baby boy is now 7!  What the heck!  Time sure does fly!  We of course celebrated a few different times since his birthday is so close after Christmas.  We had his family party on his actual birthday and a party with his friends a later date.  This boy was spoiled rotten by all who love him!  Happy Birthday Bubba!  We love you to pieces!

Hayden's favorite gifts.  An Ipad from Mommy and Daddy and Skylander Giants for his new Ipad from Grandma and Grandpa!

Wow!  That was a busier year than I thought!  And I am sure I missed a bunch but I guess that is what I get for not staying on top of it!  Here are a few random pics from throughout the year to end this LONG post with!  Here is to a better 2013 for blog land!

What the heck Bubba?!

Sitting like this while playing video games!  Makes me hurt!
