A Christmas Girls Night Out

Every year we like to try and go see the newest Christmas movie out in theaters. It helps get us into the Christmas spirit (as if we need help with that). This year we planned it with just the girls. Between family and friends there were 13 of us. It was sort of like a Mom and Daughter night. We first went to dinner at the famous La Luna in Jordan Landing. I don't know why we don't try any place different. We just love that dang stuff! After dinner we headed over to see Four Christmas's which I loved! I thought it was a cute movie. I had heard from people that it wasn't good but you just have to be your own judge. It wasn't all that "Christmasy" as I had hoped but it was pretty good anyway. We had a great time and shouldn't wait until the holidays to get to together like this. I know we are so busy and life seems to pass us by so quickly but it's worth taking a night out to enjoy great friends and family! Here are some pics of the girls!

Candy Trains

Every year at Christmas time we make candy trains. I guess instead of gingerbread houses or something we make trains. This started before I can remember at my Grandma and Grandpa Dimick's. My Grandpa loves trains so maybe that's why?! My Mom and dad have sorted of carried the tradition on even though we didn't have any little ones in our family they would still invite other family and friends. We were way excited to start this tradition with our boys and we did the very first year. Even though they were only 11 months old we still had fun! This year I was so excited because I just knew that Hayden would have so much fun doing this and he did!!! He was the only one out of his three friends that are around the same age as him that actually sat there the entire time. The others made their trains but the interest wore off pretty fast. Hayden enjoyed licking the frosting filled knife better than the candy! He's just like his mommy! Here are a few pics from the train making fun we had!

Photos with Santa 2008

The great Bridge Photography had a Santa photo shoot. We decided to take the boys there instead of the mall or some place. We have seen Santa at the mall however Hayden was really shy and didn't want to sit on his lap so he just waved to him. I didn't want to force him and thought he would be more comfortable at the studio rather than the big mall. He was still a little bit timid at the studio as you can see from the many faces of Hayden in the pics below. Hayden talks about Santa none stop and how he is going to bring him presents. A big boy bike and a big boy bed. Let's just hope Santa thinks Hayden has been good this year!!

Look at how cute this one is of Landen and Santa! It's my favorite!

Much to be Thankful For

We hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving this year! I thought we would tell you all about are exciting weekend. Well, I guess it wasn't all exciting. Let's say eventful.

Turkey day started off really good. We spent a little time at Grandma and Grandpa Peterson's early in the day and then went to my parents house for our turkey feast. My Mom has only been cooking Thanksgiving dinner for the last 3 or 4 years and I have to say she has it down to perfection! Who wants turkey when you can have homemade stuffing, yams, and rolls!! That's all my plate consists of.

All was well until Nate had eaten to much so he wanted to go home and take a nap. I didn't want to go home it was Thanksgiving and it was only 5:00. So he decided to go home without us, Thank Goodness!!! A few minutes after he left, my Mom got a phone call, from Nate! He had been in an accident. A women decided to run a red light. Nate hit them head on with our truck and smashed up the front end so much that it was not drivable. The two women were in a dodge neon and their car was pretty much wrecked, at least the passenger side was. The good news is that everyone was fine. The bad news is the women didn't have insurance. What jerks!!! It just ticks me off. We were given her personal information and our insurance tried calling them and now their phone has been disconnected. I feel like driving over to their house that is if it really is their house. So that was our eventful turkey day!

Black Friday- One of my favorite days of the year!! This year it was just me, my mom, and SIL Jenna. We left home at about 4:00 am to start our shopping day off. I took my camera to take pics of the craziness out there but I couldn't miss out on the great deals long enough to get it out!

Saturday- We put up our Christmas tree and the little decor outside. I must say we don't have alot to decorate with and what we do have is sort of sad looking! I need to get to Tai Pan and quick!! Oh well, it's all for Hayden and he doesn't much care. He had a blast helping us get it all out.

Later that evening the Dimick Family headed downtown on trax to see the lights. We first went to Gateway and had dinner at CPK. MMM I love the Thai Crunch Salad. It's mine and my Moms favorite! Then we went to Temple square just in time for the countdown for the lights to be turned on. What a beautiful place it is this time of year! After seeing the lights we had a bowling tournament to get to. A Wii bowling tournament. We are addicted to this thing. Aunt Debbie and Uncle Curtis had us over to play the Wii. Hayden plays too. He bowls about an 89. Not bad for an almost 3 year old. We had good times and laughs too! We hope Santa brings us a Wii for Christmas! What do you think, have we been good enough this year?!

Sunday was a day of relaxation after the busy long weekend. We did bake some cookies and of course did a little bit more shopping but nothing major! And now we are back to work =(

I can't believe there is only weeks until Christmas. My first Christmas party is Dec. 3rd for work. It's coming fast!!! YIPPEEEEE!!

Christmas Already?!

Sorry, I just can't help myself! I am just too dang excited about the holidays to only celebrate for the short time after Thanksgiving! I have already been listening to Christmas music and that gets me even more excited! This year will be so much fun with Hayden! We have already seen Santa too! Hayden is scared of Santa so he wouldn't sit on his lap to tell him what he wants. But he knows all about Santa and understands what goes on during the holiday season. I guess that is why I am so excited, to see the magic in Hayden's eyes on Christmas morning! I just love it!! We talk about Santa all the time and Hayden tells everyone that Santa is going to bring him a big boy bike and a big boy bed and presents. So, we will see if Hayden has been a good boy this year!!

HaYdEn NeWs...

I have the best news ever!!! Hayden is now potty trained! It was funny because it is like a light switch turned on or something. Just one morning he woke up completely dry and told me he had to go potty. It has only been about a week but he has had no accidents! He looks so cute in his little boxer briefs! Our little man is growing up so fast! Good Job Hayden! We are so proud of you!
I just love his cute little boxer brief bum!

Some more Hayden News... He has some current obsessions lately. One is with his sniffer and the other is cleaning.

The first one is cleaning. He loves to help clean. Sweep, dust, mop, vacuum. His favorite thing lately is to vacuum all by himself. So I just hook him up down in the bedrooms and he goes to town vacuuming away. What a good little cleaner I have!! Now for this he takes after his Mommy. Boy, I am teaching him well! Maybe?! Hopefully he doesn't develop OCD like his Mommy!

Second, He sniffs everything. If he can smell something out of the ordinary good or bad he sniffs everything around him, even me. I of course always smell good, so he says anyway! Sometimes he doesn't always know what he is smelling like the other day when we went to my Moms house and as soon as we got there he started to cry because he said it stinks. I asked him what it stunk like and he said poop. Now it didn't smell like poop but rather pizza maybe because my Mom just got home with dinner. Maybe it was some bad pizza, I'm not sure but I do know that it tasted good! Silly Hayden! He also smells his food before he will eat it. I don't know where he comes up with this stuff!

Happy Halloween

Wow! Halloween was so much fun this year! And very very busy!! Hayden was way into the Halloween spirit this year mostly because I guess he kind of understood the concept more than last year. He was a little bit iffy on a few scary things but then after he realized that it was just for fun and pretend he was ok. He enjoyed trick or treating and wanted to keep moving on to the next house! He was a little go getter!

We had alot of fun during the Halloween Season Hayden had a costume party at his buddy Trevor's house. We had pumkin carving and pizza party at Grandma & Grandpa's house. On Halloween, we went trick or treating all day!!! Our first stop was Sundance and by the time we left there Hayden's pumpkin was full of candy! But we couldn't stop there as we had several more stops to make. From there we went to Grandpa's work, Aunt Jenna's work, Daddy's & Uncle Shaun's work. Busy busy!! Then lucky for us all of our family lives in the same neighborhood besides Nate's parents but we went and visited them early that day. We have lots of Grandmas and Grandpas and Aunts and Uncles that just can't wait to see our boys so how can we leave anyone out! We are very lucky to have all of our family so close to us!

Anyway, here are some pics below of the Halloween partying we did this past few weeks.

This is what the boys thought about pumpking carving.

Halloween/Fall Treat

My Mom found this cute idea in her blog adventures one day! We tried it out and they are super cute and super good if you like peanut butter. They taste like peanut butter fudge, only better and much cuter! They are a little time consuming but kind of fun to make especially with the kids.

All you need is one bag of peanut butter chips (like chocolate chips) and one container of vanilla frosting.

Melt the peanut butter chips in the microwave and then add the vanilla frosting to it. Set aside a very small amount to color green for the stems and color the rest orange. It kind of gets tuff to stir. Then you set in fridge for one hour.

To make pumpkins you roll the orange into balls. Take a knife to score like a real pumpkin and then you set it down and push the top down with your thumb. It opens up the scores that you just made to make it look like pumpkin. Then you use a tooth pick to make a little hole in the top to stick the stem in that you make out of the green.

I hope this makes sense. There really isn't any directions so these are my special instructions and I wanted to be clear as possible so it may be sound stupid. If you have any questions let me know.

Enjoy!

8 Things...

(I am very sleepy right now!) 8 things on my wish list: A baby sister for Hayden, a new car, MONEY! (I know money isn't everything but it would sure help things!) For none of us to ever get sick, Hayden to be potty trained, to be skinny, a fun girl vacation to NY, a romantic vacation to Fiji!!

Potty Training Update

I haven't given a potty training update since we started which was the beginning of the year sometime. That is because Hayden was doing really good for a little while then he gave up on it. It could have been partly our fault for not keeping up with it ourselves. We just kept forgetting. Well, I thought it is really time to crack down on this and get him potty trained. So we started a potty chart and he FINALLY filled his first one all up. We told Hayden that once he filled up his potty chart that we would take him to the toy store and he could pick out a toy. After a few months... he finished! So last week we took him to Toys R Us and after a long hard decision he picked out a crane type truck for his reward. He has been so funny though with going 2 in his pants. He knows he is supposed to go on the potty but I guess he doesn't want to go 2 on there so he gets really quiet and sort of hides out until he is done going. Then he will come back into the room we are in and have this guilty look on his face and sometimes even tattle on himself. That look is just so funny! I can tell immediately what he has done.

He has been doing really good for the past month so hopefully we can stick with the program and he will be using the potty all time (even #2!).
Good Job Hayden! We are proud of you!

He looked and looked for the perfect toy!

He was all about these remote control tractor things but luckily he didn't choose one of those! ($65 for one of those things. YIKES!)

Decisions Decisions! He could not choose between these two! He thought he could have both! Everything with him comes in two's! He's so silly!

The green one it is!! Hayden is headed home to play with his new truck!

Look at my crane Mommy!!

Hayden is already excited about filling up his next potty chart so he can go get the other crane that he wanted. That boy never forgets anything!
